Facial Massager – Exfoliation with Ultrasound

Posted by: chiactivate on: June 18, 2009

There has been some confusion about this galvanic or ultrasound facial massager.

Yeah, they call it the facial massager, so many people would think this machine will “massage your face” like a vibrating massage machine.

Well, it does massage your face, but not like a vibrating massager.

Instead it’s using ultrasound waves and galvanic ion to treat the skin cells. Ultrasound waves penetrate deep into the skin to remove the wastes and dead skin cells.

Ultrasound waves is invisible for the human eyes. You don’t feel it, but it is working.  So the ultrasound machine is exfoliating your skin.

Exfoliation is the removal of dead skin cells. It reduces the amount of dead cell build-up on the skin. Instead call this as a facial massager, they should call it the EXFOLIATION MACHINE.

Swine Flu, How To Take Precautions?

Posted by: chiactivate on: May 5, 2009

As you’ve been following the news, Swine flu has affected many cities throughout the North America. People have reason to panic. However, instead of panicking it’s better to think calmly about the best way to protect yourself and your loved ones from infection.

What is Swine Flu and how can you get it?

The Swine Flu virus (H1N1) is a respiratory disease of pigs caused by what is known as type A influenza virus and causes outbreaks in pigs.

Swine flu CANNOT be spread by eating pork that is properly cooked, but the virus is primarily spread by human-to-human contact. Humans can pass H1N1 to another person by sneezing or coughing. It can also be passed indirectly by coming in contact with contaminated surfaces.

You might want to know what are the symptons of H1N1 so that you will know whether you are infected or not, so you can seek immediate treatment.

What are the symptoms of Swine Flu H5N1?

Symptoms of this swine flue include:

- Fever,

- Coughing

- Sore throat

- Body aches

- Headache

- Chills

- Fatigue.

Diarrhea and vomiting are also possible symptoms.

How to protect yourself from swine Flu?

It is absolutely essential that you wash your hands properly. Use a good amount of soap and warm water. As well, use paper towels to turn off the tap so that you don’t recontaminate you hands. Anti-bacterial soap is recommended.

If possible, try to buy N95 masks to prevent breathing in particulates that have been contaminated the virus. However, you must realize that N95 masks are not 100% effective as virus as often too small to be blocked from entering your longs.

Nevertheless, they can offer some protection if they are worn properly (eg. properly sealed). However, there is a highly effective ’secret weapon’ that you can have at your home.

Secrets of Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils

The secret is the use of Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils. As you might know, unlike drugs that are manufactured in precise batches, each batch of Essential Oils is unique. This is important because viruses and bacteria cannot figure out what they are up against (since their ‘enemy’ is always changing faces).

Therefore, viruses and bacteria cannot develop resistance to Essential Oils. You see, Essential Oils are derived from trees and other plants that use Essential Oils to protect themselves from attack.

The secret of using the plant’s ’secret weapon’ to protect humans goes back centuries, when the “Black Death” (bubonic plague) that devastated much of Europe. A handful of thieves used this ’secret’ to protect themselves from contracting the bubonic plague so that they could rob from those who were dying from the plague. It sounds pretty harsh of them but we do have to give them credit for being smart.

Instead of being like the selfish albeit, smart thieves, who didn’t share their secret, why not get some Essential Oils for yourself and your loved ones?

Effective Use of Essential Oils With Aromatherapy Diffuser

It should be noted however, that in order to diffuse the Essential Oils throughout your room, you would need what is called an aromatherapy diffuser.

Shiatsu massage Vs. Deep Tissue Massage

Posted by: chiactivate on: March 17, 2009

A few days ago, I went to see a professional massage therapist because I was interested in receiving a Shiatsu massage and a Deep Tissue Massage. I get occasional lower back pain from playing sports so I wanted to see if a Shiatsu massage or a deep tissue massage would help.

At my first session, I chose a Shiatsu massage which is more or less an acupressure massage which involves applying medium pressure to specific acupuncture points or trigger points on my body. This type of massage feels quite comfortable because you don’t feel any pain during the massage. The massage therapist informs me that like most massages, I will need to have regular sessions of Shiatsu massage in order to get the ultimate benefits. The day after receiving this massage, I did not notice any difference.

The next day, I went back for a deep tissue massage which is recommended for body pain from sports or if you have tight tense muscles in general. During this massage, I definitely felt pain on my shoulders, back, and legs. Since my lower back was a bit painful before the massage, this type of massage was actually loosening the tense muscles in my lower back and I could feel an increase in blood circulation in my back. A deep tissue massage really feels like a workout even though I’m lying flat on my stomach with the therapist doing all the work.

The next day, my body felt a bit painful in areas where I did not have pain initially but my lower back was actually feeling better. For me, it seems like a deep tissue massage really helps to reduce pain from playing sports.

How to Relieve School Stress with Aromatherapy

Posted by: chiactivate on: March 12, 2009

How Can You Relieve Your School Stress?

The beginning of March is always a stressful time for university students.  Exams, project deadlines, and readings can be daunting, not to mention working a part-time job on top of that.  As a full-time student, rest and relaxation is the farthest thing from my mind.

So, how do I keep myself sane in light of all this?  The scent of eucalyptus.  That answer might be a surprise coming from a university student, but aromatherapy really does keep me calm while I’m dealing with the pressures of school.

How Does Aromatherapy Work?

Aromatherapy is the use of all- natural essential oils to relieve both physical and emotional stress.  The aromas of these oils activate your sense of smell and affects the part of your brain that controls mood and emotions, leaving you relaxed and relieved.

Common oils used are lavender, jasmine, lemon, rose, sandalwood, and eucalyptus.  I’ve found eucalyptus to be the most effective at relieving stress.  It has a way of centering my mind as I find myself taking slower, calmer breaths.

What Are Different Aromatherapy Methods?

These scents can be applied to the body with body oils or diffused in the air through candles, burners, or other diffusers.  I’ve found the ultrasonic aromatherapy diffuser to work best.  Ultrasonic diffusers generate aroma mists through sonic waves, much safer than diffusers that rely on flames.  It’s quiet and runs on a timer, so I can leave it on as I study and feel my stress go away!

Galvanic does wonders!

Posted by: chiactivate on: October 3, 2008

I am 32 years of age and am stating to feel the effects of gravity (god help me). A friend of mine actually advised me to start using the galvanic treatment on my face. Well her being an esthetician I took her advice, and surprisingly I started to see results quicker than I had imagined. The muscles on my face have started to get tighter and more youthful looking.

I have been using it about 3-4 times a week and have seen drastic results compared to pictures I took before I started. My skin looks brighter, vibrant and healthy not to mention youthful, especially around my eyes, where most of the sagging was starting to occur.

Believe it or not I was asked for my ID when purchasing lottery tickets a few weeks ago! I definitely urge people to start using this treatment regularly. It is effective, easy, comfortable and painless! If you don’t believe me then try it for yourself, you have nothing to lose.

Shoulder Heating pad for arthritis relief

Posted by: chiactivate on: September 28, 2008

Last week our office temperature dropped dramatically. Summer is officially over now.  It was rainy, cold, and windy.

My shoulders suddenly felt sore and cold. Luckily, I had a Bio Heating pad that can be used to relieve shoulder pain.

I put the bio heating pad in the microwave for 3-4 minutes and slipped it into a soft textile cover.  After heating the pad in the microwave, I placed the heating pad on my shoulders and wow…..it felt great.  I felt a very warm feeling.

I felt shoulder relief immediately. The Bio Heating pad stays warm for at least an hour.
This heating pad is great for office workers, especially for those working on the computer all day. The heat relaxes and relieves your stiff shoulders.

I like this heating pad because I can walk around my office while wearing it on my shoulder. There’s no hassle with  wires and cords. I have complete cord free mobility with the Bio Heating Pad.

How to prevent and treat skin disorders by Sun Damage?

Posted by: chiactivate on: June 17, 2008

When I say sun damage I mean the negative impact too much unprotected exposure to sun light can have on the look, feel and health of our skin. This sun damage is caused by UV rays. Sun light consists of two different kinds of UV rays, UVA and UVB. UVB rays are the cause of sunburns. UVA rays however, are not only responsible for excessive skin aging, but can also lead to skin cancer.

Unfortunately, most people will not give up tanning, outdoors activities or go outside only with all their skin covered despite the risks involved. We love the sun.

Sunlight can have a damaging effect on your skin, but you can prevent it. There are several ways you can protect your skin from sun damage such as premature aging, wrinkles, sun blotches and changes in the pigmentation. Especially if you spend a lot of time exposed to sun light, like spending your days at the beach, running marathons or working outside you should heed the following advise.

  • Always use a sunscreen, sun blocker or sun crème. Ask your pharmacist or dermatologist which UV protection your skin needs. A thumb rule is: the lighter the skin type, the higher the protection needed to prevent sun damage.
  • Enrich your diet and use skincare products that have soy components in them. Soy can smooth and moisturize the skin and also helps against sun blotches by evening the overall skin tone.
  • The sun can damage the skin by causing so called oxidative stress through free radicals. This can lead to wrinkles and sagging skin. After exposing your skin to sunlight you should use an after sun lotion or similar skincare product that contains the vitamins C and E. These vitamins counter oxidative stress and help the skin repair previous sun damage.
  • Chemical Peels: skincare products that help the skin rejuvenate and regenerate itself by shedding its’ outer layer. The skin is noticeably smoother and softer after a peeling. However, you should not do a peeling after a long day in the sun as the skin is already stressed.

There are more invasive measures that can be taken in order to treat sun damage. These include non prescription and prescription medication and cosmetic treatments such as laser treatments as well as BoTox, collagen and fat injections. Personally, I am of the opinion that the less medication the better, no matter if it’s over the counter or not.  Enjoy the sun, but with care, and use natural, non-invasive ways to help your skin protect itself from sun damage. Prevention is always better than treatment.

Fyola Facial Massager – Instructions

When To Use Ultrasound Gel, Lotion and Serum?

Ultrasound Mode
When using the ultrasound mode, apply a suitable amount of water soluble gel or lotion (a circle with 2 cm diameter) on the facial head or your skin.  Gel is better, since it doesn’t dry up quickly on your skin and makes the facial machine device move smoothly over your skin.

But the main function of gel is to increases the conduction of ultrasound waves into your skin.  The gel prevents air from coming between the facial machine and the skin, therefore maximizes the transmission of the sound waves.

You can get ultrasound gel from a specialty store. Aloe Vera gel seems to have good results.

Galvanic mode

When using the ultrasound mode, apply lotion or facial serum with Vitamin rich C or Anti-Oxidant.  The galvanic mode pushes the skin care ingredients into you skin.  So make sure, the skin care product you have selected does NOT contain chemicals.  You don’t want these chemicals get into your skin, right?

Even branded skin products might have chemicals. So make sure you check the ingredients before buying these product at your local beauty store. Select organic skin product with 100% natural ingredients.

Do NOT apply the ultrasound gel when using the galvanic mode. Some ultrasound gels might even contain chemicals or preservatives.

2. Massaging (4 minutes)

Total basic treatment is only 8 minutes.

A. Apply gel –> Choose Cleansing Mode –> Select Ultrasound mode –> Gently rub your whole face for 4 minutes –> Wash your face with warm wet towel

4 Ultrasonic, Galvanic Ion or Both?

For massage and cleansing mode select ultrasonic wave mode only. This will remove waste inside your skin. Especially good for acne or oily skin.

When choosing lifting, nutrition, whitening or wrinkle care mode choose galvanic ion mode to enhance the absorption of cosmetic ingredients (Vitamin C) into your skin. For best results select both the ulrasound and ion mode. When both the ultrasonic and galvanic ion mode are used at the same time, the permission through the out skin layer will be 77 times better than using the ultrasonic mode or galvanic mode separately.

5. Move the facial head around your face
Move the treatment head of the facial massager in circle following the formation of the muscles. See illustrations for the directions. Do not stop moving the treatment head in use, about the rate of 5 centimeters within 1 second. The power will shut off automatically.

LED Photon Facial Massager – Does it really work?

Posted by: chiactivate on: April 4, 2008

What is LED Skin Rejuvenation?

LED Skin Rejuvenation is the interaction of light, delivered through Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs), to activate cell receptors causing them to produce collagen or multiply.

How does LED Skin Rejuvenation work?

The light from the LEDs interacts with cells and stimulates them to produce new collagen and elastin. By manipulating the wavelengths, cells can be turned on and off. Yellow light LEDs are used for photo-rejuvenation. Blue light LEDs are used in the treatment of acne. Red light LEDs are used for PhotoDynamic therapy.

Does LED Skin Rejuvenation work?

So far, no scientific studies has shown that LED will renew your skin.

Face Massager – Galvanic – Ultrasound Explained

Posted by: chiactivate on: March 21, 2008

What’s all the buzz about the Galvanic and Ultrasound Face Massager?

Ultrasound waves can not be felt or seen

Ultrasound waves range from 1 Mhz to 3 Mhz. Their action on the skin tissue is like a massage. We usually call this effect a micro-massage. It’s like one million vibrations penetrating into your skin cells at the same time.

One would feel nothing but a little warm or tingling sensation when using the ultrasound facial massager. It is better for our tender skin. Appropriate micro-massage plays an important role to our physiological system.

The speed vibration and the bubble action of ultrasound can easily wrap wastes up and take them out of the skin. Do not use directly on inflammed part of the skin in case it becomes worse. Meanwhile, the user should be relaxed to allow normal hormonal secretion while using this face massager.

The bubble action Ultrasound Face Massager
Stirring the water in a fish jar with a chopstick, we supply oxygen to the fish. The faster we stir, the more bubbles we have. Now just image how many bubbles would be produced by one million stirs per second. That’s right, countless and invisible. But, each bubble still does its best to do what a bubble should do.

They wrap all oil, stain them up tightly, and remove them away even from the pores of the face. You do not have to worry about the composition of the facial cleansers again, or, if your face is cleaned well or not. Ultrasound is deemed to take the place of soap.

No doubt, skin cleaning is the most important thing, especially for those with oily skin. Most people have had little luck searching for the perfect facial cleanser.  All we have to do is do a simple cleaning. As to the oozed oil, bacteria, etc. just leave it to the ultrasound instead of variety of soaps.

Why use Water Soluble Gel and NOT cream with Face Massager?

Ultrasound waves requires a gel for the conduction into the skin. Research shows that the transmission pro portion of ultrasonic waves in the air is 0%, about 50% in general water, 60% in distilled water, near 70% in glue matter, and above 70% in special conductive gel.
When you apply water on your skin, it will dry up quickly, before you can finish the facial movements with the facial massager. A gel will stay on your skin even after you have finished the treatment.

Cream blocks the transmission of ultrasound wave.
